Winter on the Lake

I still cannot believe we live a five-minute walk from this:

Chicago skyline in the distance, about six miles south

Walked out a little way but the wind was fierce and the walkway encased in ice

Lots of people out on cross-country skis or snowshoes, walking their dogs

Snow was past my knees when I walked out on the beach to take this one

The waves were crashing up against the snowdrifts on the beach

All of these photos were taken at Pratt Beach, 6800 North.

Kelly: Thanks for sharing these amazing pictures. They make me miss Chicago – though I shiver in front of my computer screen as I recollect the wind! I’m only sorry I never had the chance to visit your neighborhood while I lived there; your beach and skyline view is gorgeous.

These are gorgeous! I went to college in Chicago and miss the beautiful winters terribly now that I live in Virginia, where a half inch of snow leads to extensive grumbling and shuts down school for a day…or two or three. Thanks for sharing (and for the great shout-out on your blogroll)!
