Many of you kind people have inquired about who took the photos I’ve used for this website, my author photo, and Word Bird. I’m so glad you asked because I never pass up a chance to praise the lovely and talented Kate Emerson, owner of Novella Photography.
Lots of photographers understand the technical aspects of their craft — and Kate certainly does — but I’ve noticed that something about her photos transcends the ordinary. It’s hard to put your finger on just what it is that makes her photos turn out so well, but here’s what I think: Kate makes her subjects feel comfortable. She loves what she does and it’s hard not to have fun while she’s taking your picture, even if you hate being in front of the camera as much as I do. Take a browse through her site to see her work. The little cherub above is her daughter Madeline. I can assure you that she is just as adorable in real life as she appears in this shot!
“Rats!” you’re probably saying. “I want to hire Kate, but she lives so stinkin’ far away.” Not to worry — Kate travels!
