I may be biased, considering I’ve spent the last two years thinking about her, but these days everything seems to be coming up Louisa May Alcott.
Harriet Reisen’s new biography, Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind Little Women, was released in October to great reviews, and the companion documentary will air on PBS in December. For better or worse, Little Women and Werewolves, which is exactly what it sounds like, will hit the shelves in June. Kind of makes you want to google Miss Alcott just to see what else is out there . . .
Want to bring Louisa with you on vacation? Next time you travel to lovely South Bend, consider reserving the Louisa May Alcott suite at the Cushing Manor Inn.

The holidays will fast be upon us. Perhaps you are looking for gifts for the Little Women fans in your life. Each March sister gets her own earrings at BeadWitches. In case you’re reading, Santa, I think I like the Meg March design the best.

As anyone who has ever made a quilt can attest, finishing the project takes the kind of fortitude Louisa had in spades. Perhaps Kaye England’s book Voices of the Past: A History of Women’s Lives in Patchwork is just what you need. Ms. England has created an Alcott-inspired pattern. This HGTV tutorial will help you get started.

Knitters and spinners, take heart! The March girls may have grumbled about all the knitting Marmee urged them to do in the effort to support the Union soldiers, but this beautiful roving–called, simply, Alcott–will sail between your fingers.

Finally, if your tastes run a little more toward the modern, you may appreciate that Louisa has been included in a LEGOs of famous people series. Still trying to figure out whether these are actually for sale, or merely the product of some guy in his basement with a permanent marker. Also, as one commenter notes, this plastic Louisa looks an awful lot like Princess Leia.
